Lovekin carry out fault-finding and repair of gas boilers and central heating systems. We work to high standards and offer timed appointments, usually with an arrival time slot of up to an hour. If we’re running more than 10 minutes late we’ll try to ring you to let you know.

Intermittent faults!

Sorry, but if the breakdown with your boiler or heating system is caused by an intermittent fault you may have to wait until the fault persists before we can find it and repair it. It’s simply not possible to find a fault that's not there at the time. While we understand the frustration this causes, we don’t want to charge you a call-out un-necessarily. So, if the fault is intermittent please tell us!

How we charge for fault-finding and repair — All our prices include VAT

When we come out to a breakdown we apply a call-out charge of 88, covering up to an hour. Beyond an hour we charge at 88 per hour pro rata for the time we actually spend on site.  Parts are charged extra. If we have to go out to buy parts we will apply an additional single charge of 44 to cover some of our travelling time. We provide an invoice when we finish the work and ask for payment at the time; cash, cheque or bank transfer are fine but we don’t take cards.

Rarely, we may advise that your boiler is beyond repair. In this case you would need to have it replaced. If we advise that it is beyond repair or not worth repairing we normally charge only a half hour fee, 44. Sometimes though, the time taken to make the system safe will be longer than half an hour and we will charge the full hour; an example might be where we have to drain the system down to prevent damage from water leakage.

If your boiler is under 10 years old the manufacturers may offer you a fixed fee repair. Parts are expensive so it usually makes sense to take up the offer of a fixed fee repair if you can get one.  It’s important to check what the fixed fee repair covers. If the fault is outside the appliance it is very unlikely to be covered and, since you pay for the fixed fee repair up front, you will still be charged by the manufacturer.

What if you don’t know if the fault is in the appliance or an external problem?  If we come out and find that the fault is in the boiler and it makes more sense for you to take up a fixed fee repair from the manufacturer, we will charge only a half hour fee, 44.

If your boiler has to be replaced we will quote for a replacement and the quotation will be free and in writing. We will ask you for an email address as we normally send quotations by email.  If we are installing, our first choice of manufacturer is Worcester Bosch. This is based simply on the fact that have found Worcester’s backup, service and reliability to be excellent and their spares availability second to none.

We are Worcester Accredited Installers and can extend their warranty to 7 years. This warranty is serviced by their own engineers and covers all parts and labour on the boiler (subject to their terms and conditions). We will include the cost of the extension warranty in the replacement quotation. One condition of their warranty is that the new appliance must be serviced annually, by a Gas Safe Registered engineer. For more about boiler replacement see our installation page.

Sorry, we deal with natural gas (mains gas) only, not LPG and we do not repair cookers and hobs.
