Lovekin carry out servicing, fault-finding and repair of gas boilers and central heating systems. We work to high standards and offer timed appointments, usually with an arrival time slot of up to an hour
How we charge for fault-finding and repair
When we come out to a boiler breakdown or central heating breakdown we will spend 5 or 10 minutes checking to see if it is a simple, straightforward fault.If we can quickly solve it or repair it at the time we will apply a labour charge of £88 including VAT
If we are reasonably confident about a diagnosis that requires parts, or more than an hour's labour, we will instead quote you for the work we think is needed. If you are not happy with the price we have quoted, we will leave, politely, and you will owe us nothing.
We use best judgement but we can't guarantee that our diagnosis will always be correct nor can we guarantee that you won't need further parts or repair work. If you accept the quote for the work we will naturally expect to be paid for what we have done, whether or not the work is successful and whether or not more work is required.
We provide an invoice when we finish the work and ask for payment at the time; cash, cheque or online transfer are fine but we don’t take cards.
Sometimes it is clear that the fault is complex and that several parts may be needed. If it is a boiler fault we may recommend that you contact the manufacturers and ask if they offer a fixed fee repair. The better manufacturers do. They carry parts for their boilers on the van and buy their own parts much more cheaply than we can, so a fixed fee repair may be the sensible option.
Failing that, we may suggest that it is not worth trying to repair your boiler. We don't do this lightly and we never exploit our customers to generate more work. We will usually be happy to quote for a boiler replacement and the quote will be free and in writing. If we are installing, our first choice of manufacturer is Worcester-Bosch. We are Worcester Registered Installers and can extend the warranty on their boilers by an extra 3 years. This warranty is serviced by Worcester-Bosch's own engineers and covers all parts and labour on the boiler (subject to their terms and conditions). We will include the cost of the extension warranty in the boiler replacement quotation.

Sorry, but if the breakdown with your boiler or heating system is caused by an intermittent fault you may have to wait until the fault persists before we can find it and repair it. It’s simply not possible to find a fault that's not there at the time
